No, currently all the bookings are solely for travel on Bhutan Airlines.

Bhutan Airlines has seats for restricted and unrestricted fares in the same class of travel. As flight availability is dynamic in nature, the fares may differ with the discounted fares being available later. Refund cannot be processed for the difference in fare. The same applies if the fare displayed is higher that the fare that you have paid. We do not collect the fare difference if you do not change your travel date. The fare difference is collected only if the travel date is changed and the fare applicable for the rebooked dates is higher than the amount paid by you.
All known taxes at the time of reservation have been collected. However there may be some taxes which are collected at the airport on departure. As the merchant is based in Thailand, some credit cards also charge a foreign transaction fee. This fee is not charged by Bhutan Airlines.

Yes you can upgrade your seat to business class upon availability of seats and paying extra of $100. This is cheaper than the one you pre buy tickets for Business class.

Bhutan Visa is not required to purchase tickets, however upon the confirmation of the Tour of Bhutan your Tour operator will process your Bhutan Visa.

Travel Information

For International flights from Delhi, Bangkok, Singapore, Kathmandu and Kolkatta the counter opens 3 hours prior to departure and closes 1 hours before departure. For domestic flights within Bhutan the counter opens 2 hours before departure and closes 30 minutes prior to departure.
For International flight you need to get 60 minutes prior to departure and for domestic 30 minutes will be sufficient as domestic flights in Bhutan is not crowded and we have hardly some people taking the flights.
We always advice all our clients to keep atleast 24 hours between the connecting flights. This is due to unexpected change in the weather condition in Bhutan where your flight may get delayed.
Our offices in Thimphu are open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM (weekdays) and from 10:00AM to 1:00PM (weekends). However, reservation and ticketing transactions are done till 4:00PM (weekdays) and12:00PM (weekends). Please note the City office timing depends on the flight schedule. Yes you can pre check using Drukair website 24 hours prior to departure.
Once an uncomplicated pregnancy enters its 28th week, expectant mothers are required to carry a Completed MEDIF form signed by their midwife/doctor. This completed letter should be dated within 2 weeks of the booked flight. KB reserves the right to refuse travel of an expectant mother over 28 weeks pregnant who does not present a completed “fit to fly" letter from their midwife/doctor at either the bag drop desk and/or the boarding gate. For an uncomplicated single pregnancy, travel is not permitted beyond the end of the 36th week of pregnancy. For an uncomplicated twins, triplets’ etc. pregnancy, travel is not permitted beyond the end of the 32nd week of pregnancy.
Pets can board the plane but as a check in baggage. Extra cost for Pets transfer will be applicable and please check the price with us before you confirm. You also need to carry the Pet health certificate that proves that it is fit to fly.
You can bring medium-sized instruments into the cabin as paid carry-on baggage/ unchecked baggage on each type of aircraft by placing in the closed overhead rack, size as following;
  • ATR = Maximum dimension 7.5 x 13.5 x 6 inches
  • A319 = Maximum dimension 7.5 x 13.5 x 6 inches.
However, if you carry as a checked baggage, you need to take note of following conditions.
  • The musical instrument must be kept in suitable packed, size as following (compartment size of its aircraft type);
  • Maximum dimension of package: 50x100x50 cm for ATR & 145x160x110 cm for A319.
If in excess of normal checked Baggage / carry-on baggage allowance, excess baggage rates apply.
All national except for Indian, Maldives and Bangladeshi, need visa to travel Bhutan. The national from this 3 country will get visa upon arrival. Passport is mandatory for all national to visit Bhutan.

Web Check-In

You can check in online only 24 hours prior to departure or 4 hours before departure. Before that you are not eligible for online or web check in.
Yes all Druk Air counter have dedicated couter for baggage check in except for domestic flights.
All e-tickets holders of Drukair with confirmed seats are eligible for web check in.
  • More than 9 passengers under same PNR i.e., GIT PNR(s)
  • Passengers requiring Medical / Special Assistance (wheelchair, special needs, etc.)
  • Unaccompanied Minors (Those passengers proceed to the airport for normal check-in at the Drukair counters.)
  • Bhutanese travelling to Indian Sectors without any identification documents (Those passengers proceed to the airport for normal check-in at the Drukair counters.)
If you encounter problems while checking in online do the check in from the airport counter manually. Keep enough time for this.

Yes you will be shown with map and can book the seats. However Drukair reserves the right to change prior to departure due to operation reason.

Preferred seats like Emergency Exit Row seats and select seating rows are not available for selection while checking in online for operational reasons.

Drukair counter emians opens 3 hours prior to departure but for those passenger who have checked in online can report 1 and half prior to departure. This is to drop the baggage and verify the documents.

No you much collect the standard boarding pass to proceed the boarding gate.

Customer Service

All Drukair Flights have very good baggage allowance. 30Kgs for economy class and 40 Kgs for Business class. Infant who don’t occupy seats donot have baggage allowance. Parents have to include the baggage within their tickets.
Yes you can check in your baggage for your connecting flights but only with agreed airline with Drukair. Please check with counter before checking in the baggage.
To comply with the security regulations, passengers may carry only one hand baggage. Its sum of three dimensions (length, breadth and height) should not exceed 100 cm and the weight should not exceed more than 5kg. The hand bag­gage may comprise:
  1. A lady’s handbag
  2. An overcoat or a wrap
  3. An umbrella or a walking stick
  4. A small camera and a pair of binoculars
  5. A reasonable amount of reading material for the flight
  6. For invalid, passengers, a fully collapsible invalid wheel chair and/or a pair of crutches.
All other items, such as typewriters, briefcases, overnight bags, personal radios, vanity cases, large cameras, etc. will be weighed with other baggage and will be subject to payment of excess baggage charges if the total weight exceeds the free baggage allowance.
  • For safety reasons, dangerous articles listed below, must not be carried in passenger’s baggage.
    1. Compressed gasses – (deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders
    2. Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries
    3. Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares
    4. Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters
    5. Radioactive materials
    6. Brief-cases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices
    7. Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder, peroxides
    8. Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials
    9. Other restricted articles such as mercury, magnetized material, offensive or irritating materials.
    Also carriages of dry cell batteries, knives, scissors, sharp instruments, tools, firearms, ammunition, and toy replicas are prohibited in the passenger cabin. Medicines and toiletries in limited quantities, which are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hairsprays, perfumes, and medicines containing alcohol, may be carried. Many of these listed articles can be carried as air cargo provided they are packed in accordance with the cargo regulations.

Yes you can chage the date of travel depending upon the seat availability. Little fees of $20 will be applicable if your travel date is less than 7 days.
Business class:
  • 60% refund permitted for the ticket cancelled more than 30 days from the date of travel.
  • 40% refund permitted for the ticket cancelled from 10-29 days from the date of travel.
  • 30% refund permitted for the tickets cancelled from 02-09 days from the date of travel.
  • 01 day or less only tax refundable.
  • Rescheduled ticket with charge only tax refundable.
Economy class:
  • 70% refund permitted for the ticket cancelled more than 30 days from the date of travel.
  • 50% refund permitted for the ticket cancelled from 10-29 days from the date of travel.
  • 30% refund permitted for the tickets cancelled from 04-09 days from the date of travel.
  • 03 days or less only tax refundable
  • Rescheduled ticket with charge only tax refundable.
Note: No refund is permitted for itinerary availed with promotional fares.

Firsly it is the responsibility of the travellers to make sure that your bag is robust and packed properly.

If, on arrival, you find that your baggage has been damaged, please contact our baggage service staff who will verify and fill up the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) Form. Please note that once you exit the airport without filing the PIR form, no claims shall be entertained.

Drukair ensures to deliver baggage on time following their flight. In the event that you arrive at your destination without your checked baggage, please contact our baggage service staff who will verify and fill up Off-Loaded Baggage Form. While our staff make efforts to investigate the whereabouts of your baggage, you will then be given a copy of Off-Loaded Baggage Form, which you can use to follow up the status of your baggage claim.
If your baggage is missing than documents required to file the missing baggage are your air tickets,Baggage Tag and your boarding pass is must. We may ask for your passport copy as well. Property Irregularity Form will be required to process the same.
In case an item has been left behind by the passenger on a flight upon disembarkation, the following policy shall be observed:
  1. The policy is applicable only for those items traced by Drukair from the aircraft. For items left in the airport or elsewhere, the passenger can be guided to contact the relevant airport authority.
  2. Under no circumstance shall a lost item be shipped/ delivered by Drukair. Passengers must contact the Arrivals staff in the airport and liaise with them to claim and collect the item.
The items will be store for 90 days after the date on which it was found and stored in the Baggage service office. No claims after 90 days will be entertained. You may also log on to our website and submit a search request by filling in the details of your flight and the missing item.
