Today we will drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. The drive takes approximately an hour. Thimphu is a unique city with an unusual mixture of modern development alongside with ancient tradition. The city has many places and sights to visit, in addition to several day excursion possibilities. And in terms of choosing accommodation, it has relatively more options. Once we reach Thimphu, we will check in to our hotel, relax for a while and begin our tour at Thimphu.

First of all we will drive to Mothithang Takin Preserve, located at Mothithang, Thimphu. it is a wildlife reserve area for Takin’s, the national animal of Bhutan. The Takin has been chosen as the national animal of Bhutan based both on its uniqueness and its association with country's history and mythology.
After visiting the preserve a short drive will take us to Sangaygang View Point. There's a brilliant view point underneath the telecommunications tower, where the perspective on Thimphu valley is mesmerizing.

Next we will drive to Tashichho Dzong. The fortress serves as the office of the King, ministers and various government organizations. It is also the headquarters for central monastic body of Bhutan. Bhutan's spiritual leader Je-Khenpo and the monks of both Thimphu and Punakha districts reside here during summer. It is also the venue for Thimphu Tshechu in the fall season. A small disclaimer here, we are not allowed to enter the fortress but we can witness it from the outside.

After that we will drive to Simply Bhutan. It is a museum resembling a Bhutanese village, traditional cuisine, demonstrations and performances. Enjoy the dance performance and try on the Bhutanese traditional clothing. (Gho & Kira).

During the evening we’ll drive to Buddha Dordenma Statue. It is a gigantic statue of Buddha in the mountains of Thimphu, Bhutan built in honor to celebrate the 60th Birth anniversary of king Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the 4th king of Bhutan.

Our sightseeing for the day ends here. Rest of our time will be in leisure.
Dinner will be served at our respective hotels. Overnight at Paro.

In the morning we will drive to Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan. En-route stop at Dochula Pass at 10,000ft/3,048m to view the eastern Himalayas, including Bhutan's highest mountain range, GangkarPunsum at 24,770ft/7,550m. The road then drops down through varied – ever changing forest, finally emerging into the highly cultivated Punakha valley.

We will continue our drive to wangdiphodrang. On the way we willl explore a very large fortress built in the shape of a sleeping bull. Our road gradually winds up towards the Pele La Pass at 11,152ft, where we stop to view the snow clad peaks, including Bhutan’s sacred peak Mt. Jhomolhari. It is a popular site for pilgrimage.
On arrival in Trongsa, we may visit the inner courtyard of the historical Trongsa Dzong. Trongsa is a very popular region due to the largest Dzongs constructed of Bhutan and certainly one of the most impressive ones. It was from here that the present royal family emerged as the most powerful force at the beginning of this century.

Today we will move towards Bumthang. We will drive across the Yotong La and descend eventually into the valley of Chumey, the first of four Bumthang valleys. Here we will visit the Palace, used primary by the second King of Bhutan as his summer residence, and hike for about 15 minutes that brings us to the Prakar monastery, followed by visit to Yathra Weaving centers (a Colourful wool weaving). Then we’ll drive to Jakar the center of Bumthang valley.

Bumthang is the most sacred region in the kingdom and innumerable legends surround the area. It is here that the kings were cremated and the present royal families trace their ancestry back to a famous saint called Pemalingpa, who was also a smith in Jakar Town.

If time permits we will visit the Jambaylhakhang, kurjey temple, tamshing, the Swiss farm area and beer factory.
Dinner will be served at the hotel. Overnight at Bumthang.

After breakfast we will retrieve back to Punakha, warm place at 1400 m. Upon arrival we will visit the amazing and most impressive Punakha Dzong and hike to chimilhakhang – the temple of divine madman or the fertility temple.

Chimi Lhakhang was built by Lama Drukpa Kunley in 1499. He subdued the demons at Dochu la with his ‘magic thunderbolt of wisdom.’ A wooden effigy of the Lama’s thunderbolt is preserved in the Lhakhang. Childless women and couples go to the temple to receive a wang (blessing) from the saint.

It’s a 20-minute walk across the rice fields from the road at Sopsokha to the temple. The trail leads across rice fields to the tiny settlement of Pana. There are very few monks at the temple, which is surrounded by a row of prayer wheels and some very beautiful slate carvings.

After the sightseeing, we will drive to our respective hotels for dinner. Overnight in the hotel at Bumthang.

We will be driving to Paro today via Dochula pass at 3080 m. Kindly note that we have to move early in the morning as we will be hiking to the Tigers Nest at Paro. If the weather permits, enjoy the mesmerizing views of the Himalayan peaks above 7000 m at Dochula. After the short halt, we will Continue driving towards Paro for another 2 hours.

Upon arrival we will drive towards north of the Paro valley to start our Tigers nest hike. For Buddhists, it is a holy pilgrimage, but for tourists, a hike up to the viewpoint opposite to the monastery is exhausting but thrilling and a mystical feeling. The Taktsang monastery or the tigers nest clings, on seemingly impossible sheer, vertical cliff at 9680ft.
The steep uphill hike up to the Tea house opposite of Takstang, takes between 1 to 2 hours. (Optional charges - Ponies are provided on request to ride up till the tea house.)

You can get a good view from the Tea house or hike further uphill for 1 to 2 hours to the temple itself. Lunch is served at the tea house with the majestic views of the Taktsang above and the Paro valley at the bottom. The return trek to the road is downhill and takes about half the time it took to reach up.

After the exhausting day, we will drive back to our hotel. For me I like taking long showers after a tiring day so refresh yourself and dinner will be served.
Overnight at Paro.

Today we will be driving to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable point in Bhutan at 3,988 m between Paro and Haa valley. The pass is located 35km away from Paro and 26 Km from Haa. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Bhutan and tourists all over the world come here while in Bhtan.

After that we will drive back to Paro town. We will take a walk around the town visiting some handicrafts shop and coffee houses. You can buy souvenirs at the handicrafts store to take it back home as a memory for your Bhutan tour.
After the stroll, we will drive back to our hotel. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
