Upon our arrival at Paro International Airport, our designated guide will warmly welcome us and offer invaluable assistance in navigating through the immigration and customs procedures.
Once we exit the terminal, our journey will take us towards Thimphu, with a delightful stopover at Tamchog Lhakhang, situated across the river.
Following a satisfying lunch, our exploration commences with a visit to the grandest Standing Buddha Statue, which commands a stunning view of the Thimphu Valley and attracts many locals who come here for their prayers. Following this awe-inspiring sightseeing, we'll proceed to explore Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which boasts a population of just over 50,000 residents.
Our day kicks off with an excursion to Dochula Pass en route to Punakha, where, weather permitting, you'll be treated to a breathtaking vista of the majestic, snow-covered Himalayan range. We'll then make our way back to Thimphu.
Next, we'll pay our respects at the National Memorial Chorten, a sacred monument erected in honor of the 3rd King of Bhutan. Our journey continues with a visit to the Textile Museum, renowned as one of the most splendid museums in the country, showcasing the royal attire worn by Bhutan's monarchs, beginning with the very first King.
Our exploration will culminate with a visit to the largest Standing Buddha Statue, which offers an enchanting view of the Thimphu Valley. As evening approaches, we'll make our way back to Paro.
A must-see on your Bhutan journey is the iconic Tiger's Nest Temple, likely the famous image you've encountered online. Your Bhutan experience isn't complete without it. The moderate three-hour hike through a pine forest from the base camp brings you to this sacred site, where Guru Padmashambhaba is said to have meditated on a tigress's back in the 8th century. This temple is a closely guarded secret for the Bhutanese.
Following the hike, we'll explore the beautiful Paro Rinpong Dzong, a landmark you'll recognize when you arrive in Paro. A leisurely walk leads you to a wooden bridge beyond the dzong. In the evening, unwind with a Hot Stone Bath. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be at the hotel.
After lunch, we'll drive to Paro and visit Drugyel Dzong, also known as the Victory Dzong. This fortress played a crucial role in protecting the people of Paro from frequent Tibetan invasions in ancient times. On our way back, we'll stop by Kyichu Monastery, Bhutan's oldest monastery, dating back to the 6th century. Dinner and overnight lodging will be at the hotel.
Tashi Delek! Best wishes!
